An 18-class, in-person Toronto Chess Club Academy semester at Lorvale Academy Markham East. Level 1 introduces the essentials: how the pieces move, board orientation, legal moves, check and checkmate, attacks, safe captures and the habits needed to play a complete game. Classes run Saturdays from 10:00–11:30 AM, September 12, 2026 through January 30, 2027, with no class on October 10, December 26 or January 2. Each class combines structured instruction, guided solving and practice, homework, over-the-board play, and instructor feedback. Tuition is $630 + HST ($35 per class). The semester includes a final unrated tournament. Families may register directly; if you are unsure which Level fits your child, the Academy open assessment is available as an optional placement check.
