A 13-class, in-person Toronto Chess Club Academy cohort at Lorvale Academy Markham West. Level 1 introduces the essentials: how the pieces move, board orientation, legal moves, check and checkmate, attacks, safe captures and the habits needed to play a complete game. Classes run Saturdays from 3:15–4:45 PM, October 24, 2026 through January 30, 2027, with no class on December 26 or January 2. Each class combines structured instruction, guided solving and practice, homework, over-the-board play, and instructor feedback. The store displays the standard $630 + HST semester price. After placement, Toronto Chess Club confirms the prorated tuition at $35 + HST for each class remaining and provides the applicable discount code for checkout. The cohort includes the semester's final unrated tournament. Families who have not yet received a placement recommendation should begin with the Academy open assessment.
